For Sprigwise, the offline houseplant care companion for Android
Sprigwise collects no personal data. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting and nothing to buy, and the app never opens a network connection. It asks for exactly one thing — permission to show notifications — because that is how a watering reminder reaches you.
Sprigwise is made and published by Unplug Unity Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, which releases its apps under the name Plantden. Where data protection law refers to a data controller, that company is it — although in practice there is nothing to control, because the app gathers nothing.

The care library ships inside the download, so nothing has to be fetched. What you add on top of it is written into the app's own private storage and never leaves the device:
You may well type something personal into a plant's name — a room, a person, a date. That text is stored on your phone and nowhere else: it is not uploaded, not backed up to us, and never seen by anyone but you.
Every reminder is scheduled locally by Android, from the watering intervals held in the app and the dates you recorded. Nothing is sent to a server, no push service is involved, and no message is ever delivered from us to your phone — the app simply asks the operating system to wake it at a certain time.
On Android 13 and later the system asks you to allow notifications the first time reminders are set up. If you refuse, everything else in the app works exactly as before; only the nudges stop. You can change your mind either way in Android settings at any time.
No advertising library, so no adverts and no advertising profile is built from what you grow. No analytics library and no crash reporter, so no usage events, session logs or crash traces are gathered or transmitted — we do not know which plants you looked up or how many you own. No billing library, so nothing can be bought and no payment data exists. No account system, no photo upload, no plant-identification camera feature and no community feed, so nothing you record is visible to anyone else.
Apart from notifications, Sprigwise requests no Android permissions: not camera, microphone, location, contacts or storage.
None. The library, the glossary and the tips are all compiled into the app, so it opens no connection to our servers or to anyone else's and behaves identically in aeroplane mode. Because nothing is sent, nothing can be intercepted; because nothing is received, no behaviour can be switched on remotely after you install it.
Google, because Sprigwise is distributed through Google Play. When you install or update the app, Google processes that under its own privacy policy and its own agreement with you. What reaches us is the aggregated, anonymous figures shown in the developer console — install counts, ratings, country totals — which cannot be traced back to an individual user.
If a future version of Sprigwise ever includes anything that touches the network, this page will be rewritten before that version is published, and the change will be described plainly rather than added quietly.
Sprigwise is a practical household app suitable for a general audience. Because it collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children either, and there is nothing in it — no adverts, no chat, no sharing, no outbound links, nothing to buy — through which a child could send information anywhere or spend money.
The library offers general guidance for growing common houseplants indoors. It is not horticultural, medical or veterinary advice. Notes on which plants are considered pet-safe are drawn from widely published sources and given for interest — if an animal or person has eaten part of a plant, contact a vet or a doctor rather than an app.
Under the UK GDPR, and under the EU GDPR where it applies to you, you have rights to access, correct, erase and port the personal data a company holds about you, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Those rights need data to act on, and we hold none, so there is nothing for us to send, correct or delete on your behalf. If you would like that confirmed in writing for your own records, ask and we will send it.
Your collection is yours alone to remove. Delete individual plants in the app, clear the app's data in Android settings, or uninstall Sprigwise — everything goes with it, reminders included. None of that needs our involvement, and no copy is left behind, because no copy was ever made.
Complaints can go to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you wrote to us first so we can explain or fix whatever prompted it.
This page is updated only when the app changes in a way that affects privacy, and the date near the top changes with it. Builds you have already installed keep behaving exactly as they do today.
